Just downloaded, looks like a very good tool. A couple of questions:
- When I try to close the program, it just minimizes. Could there be an option to close it?
- There is only one syntax highlighting option for each "bank". I am creating a bank with snippets in differente languages. Maybe you could set different syntax highlighting for each "folder" (ie, one folder in PHP, other in Perl, etc...)
Thanks for this program, it looks great!

| This app is very good but it lacks option to minimize it to tray and to set different programming language for different folders inside one database. |

Hi,
The porgram works well with the exception of loading last opened
database. No matter what I do it simply loads a blank DB.

For quite some time I had been looking for a small window utility like CodeBank. I downloaded many and tested and settled for free version of TreePad.
I was not satisified and kept on searching for something better. Now I have Codebank and I can say without hesitation that it is the only utility in this class of product which supports Syntax highlighting. Now treePad has been replaced by Codebank in my machine.
I have a few suggestions which you may like to look into :
1) Freeware sites where Codebank is made avilable do not mention its Syntax highlighting property in the description. Only if the visitor cares to look at the SnapShot, he/she discovers by surprise that it supports Syntax highlighting also.
2) it is already 1,263,104 bytes in size. which is too high for an appication like this. Please add any new feature only after fully satisfying yourself its value addition to the user and not just because it can be done.
3) CodeBank will be used by the developers to store his/her codes for reuse. Any accidental changes made to a code snippet will be fatal. May I suggest that you add a feature 'Lock Edit'? If a developer wants to make changes, he/she will first remove the lock by clicking on the app icon, make changes and then lock again.
4) Because of the convenience of tree structure category, there will be only one code snippet per tree node. may I suggest you offer the feature of 'Copy All' in the right click menu of right pane?
5) Tool bar has a back background which is hurting eyes. is there a way I can change the background color to white or some other light shade as is shown in the SnapShot available on freeware web sites?
Thank you for writing this code and making it freely available to the developer comunity. If you ever think of rewriting the code, please take a look at WsCITE. This will be a great favour to the developers.

| When I enter text for records, after I press space (most of the times) the next letter is inserted after the cursor instead of the before the cursor. It looks like I letter is inserted properly, but cursor is not move to the end. My database does not use any highlighting. |

If by back you mean black, then I have the same problem. I was using another program earlier to day and and it had wierd black backgrounds for hilighted icons in menus. Seems like some sort of delphi bug. I could be wrong though. |

I'd love to see more syntax highlighters in this nifty little proggie.
Or atleast have the ability for users to add more themselfs. I use programs like PureBasic, Visual DialogScipt and others and they aren't included.
If you need someone to write some extra files to email you you can email me the API you have setup for the syntax highlighters at geotrail@gmail.com |

From what I can see CodeBank seems like an excellent tool! The only problem is that everything I add is lost when I quit, and the program crashes when I start CodeBank the next time. Hence it is currently unusable. But, as soon as this works I would highly recommend it to everyone I know.
Are you working on fixing this bug?
Could you also set up this forum to display the date for the posts? Would be nice to know if all the previous posts are days, months og years old.

Hi,
Thanks for such great program! I used to use previous version without any problem, just willing to see syntax highlighting per entry, as added to new version !!
However, with new version, sometimes exiting the program makes it popup the following message in a loop (until kill process in taskman):
"Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window"
The issue is not persistant. Sometimes it does it, sometimes not. I've tried to check if related to saving file first, browse the tree, etc. but cannot find anything related to the crash.
Anyone experiencing this? |

cool idea, but there are some problems with the program. I\'ve installed it on USB drive and:
-- always getting problem with closing - reported above numerous dialogs \"cannot focus disabled or invisible window\" - which I either can wait to die or kill in task manager.
-- not able to change default highlighting scheme
-- there is no session restored
-- was not able to delete newly created record with default \'New Record\' name
-- exception access violation on closing
-- number of button, fact that they\'re duplicate each other is really confusing
I didn\'t test it a lot, but 5 minutes attempt to work, unfortunately end with dissatisfaction.
I\'ve used and actually liked quite a lot Notepad++. May be you could borrow it\'s engine for code display, highlighting? Oh! and syntax folding would be just great, but not necessary. |

Please use the forums for suggestions and bug reports. Here is not the appropriate place for that.
There is a new version of CodeBank in testing stage which will be published soon. |

1. I saw in the xml file that you prpared the database to enter keywords per record. I could not find the possibility to enter in with the editor
2. Do you plan to support C# ?
3. How about a complete rtf editor (different fonts, paragraphs etc.) for the memo type record ? |

| It would be nice if program will remember particular options (enabled: word-wrap, line numbers) when we close it and then run it another time. Lack of this feature is quite anoying beacuse i need to run those options by hand. |

I have checked
"Always show tray icon" and "always minimize to tray" and "Minimize from [X] instead close" in program configuration.
Then I did this
1. Close program with [X] (workes)
2. Click on tray icon to bring program back (workes)
3. click on [X] again. (fails)
In step 3 the program closes instead of minimize |

Hey I think your tools is what I looked for a long time now.
The last tool I used was on a Mac (SohoNotes). Now I switched back too windows 7. SohoNotes was able to Export all Notes to a single or multiple text-files.
Is there a way to import this into codebank ?
If not wouldn´t this be a nice additional feature.
Import / Export notes to Text-(or html)-Files and Folders
Thanks |
